Omar Ibn Al-Khattab Mosque
Omar bin Al-Khattab Mosque is one of the historical mosques in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was ordered to be built by Caliph Omar bin Al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him. It is located in the Dumat Al-Jandal Governorate in the Al-Jawf region. It is distinguished by its design, which belongs to the style of the first mosques, such as the Prophet’s Mosque when it was built. It gains its importance from its antiquity, as it was built in the year 16 AH when Omar bin Al-Khattab was heading to Jerusalem.
Omar bin Al-Khattab Mosque, may God be pleased with him, represents a historical landmark in Dumat Al-Jandal, next to Marid Castle, located in the southern part of the historic Al-Daraa neighborhood, whose buildings date back to the Islamic era, while it is based on layers and foundations dating back to the middle of the first millennium BC.
